HOWARD LAKE- The North American Elk Breeders Association was one of five cervid associations to sponsor the live video broadcast of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Texas Animal Health Commission’s Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) ante-mortem testing symposium. The event, which took place on January 12, 2016, was aimed at exploring alternatives for CWD monitoring in Texas deer breeding facilities. The symposium focused on scientific research and techniques that may assist with the development of future CWD testing protocol for Texas and other states.
The symposium included speakers from across the United States who are leaders in this field as well as a panel discussion.
Several NAEBA members were in attendance, including NAEBA President Charly Seale, past president Eric Mohlman, Harvey Petracek, Laurie Seale, Patrick Tarlton and Shawn Schafer. NAEBA would like to thank the other sponsoring associations as well- Texas Deer Association, Exotic Wildlife Association, Deer Breeders Corporation and the North American Deer Farmers Association.
