A Message From WCDEFA 2009 President
Hello to everyone. We had one of the best conventions yet. This was the first time that WCDEFA
held a convention with WOW. We had many farmers from both groups attend the meeting. We had great
speakers, and I think that everyone came out of this meeting learning something positive. It was
great to meet and get to know more of our partners in the whitetail industry. I hope that WOW members
had as much fun as we did.
There was a new board of directors elected and what a great group of people. I have the pleasure
of being the president of the great group. We as a group are very excited about the new direction
we are going the next few years. I would like to thank all of the members for giving me a chance
to lead this great organization. I know that I have not been around as long as others but please
feel free to call me anytime for any reason and I will try to help you.
There are a couple of dates you may want to remember. On April 8, 2009, we are having legislative
day in Madison. Everyone is welcome to attend, it's not just for board members. It will run from 10:00am
to 3pm. This is a good time to meet the people who make the laws that you and I have to live with every day.
Let them know the changes you would like to see. The trip to Washington has been put off until we hear from
NeDEFA. They are going to set it up. Bill Knutson , Joel Espe and I are slated to represent WCDEFA. Let us
know if you are interested in attending our trip to Washington D.C. Farm technology Days are July 21-23. We
have been asked by WOW to have our booth in their tent. I think this is a great idea. It is in Waterloo, WI
this year. If you can help work please contact Bruce Krueger.
Sometime in April we will be having a board meeting at John and Sandy Gooch's house. It is going to be a
pot luck lunch and then we are going to plant a tree in memory of her mom. Sandy lost her mom just recently.
I hope all is well with your animals considering it has been a really cold year. My bulls sure are enjoying
this warm weather - they decided to roll in the mud and are covered from head to toe. I hope to hear from you,
the membership, if you need something or just to talk. My cell phone is 608-347-8785. I am really looking
forward to working toward a new and better day in our industry. It will take everyone to pull together,
but we can do this.
Respectfully your President,
Rick Jensen
